Every year, the Fulbright Commission in Jordan coordinates a series of outreach events across the Kingdom of Jordan to promote its different awards and scholarships that are available for Jordanians to pursue different opportunities in theUnited States of America, as well as be part of the Fulbright mission promoting the connecting of cultures and building mutual understanding through higher educational exchanges.
For the year of 2019, the Commission planned over 15 visits across Jordan to reach different student groups, faculty members and professionals that might be interested in our programs. This was accomplished through a series of off-site visits that covered universities and institutions starting in the capital of Amman, and then travelling further out to reach universities in the north and south of Jordan as well.
During those visits, Fulbright program staff met with different departments, and offered presentations covering our core programs: Jordanian student graduate scholarships;Scholar Research Awards; the Fulbright Language Teaching Assistantships (FLTA)and the H. H. Humphrey Fellowships. During these visits, Fulbright staff conducted separate sessions to introduce and promote the Junior Faculty Development Program (JFDP) that is being offered for the first time in Jordan. The JFDP offers a10 week intensive training program in the U.S for junior faculty members in the fields of Environmental Sustainability and One Health.
These outreach visits are a highlight for Fulbright staff as it is always a wonderful opportunity to engage with hopeful and enthusiastic Jordanians that are passionate about pursuing higher education, research or training with the goal of bringing all that knowledge and experience back to their country. Staff also had the chance to counsel students and faculty members individually as well as in groups and answer their questions, and offer advice to interested applicants as they prepare ahead of the new application cycle.
The next application cycle for Fulbright Commission - sponsored selected programs will be from February 2nd of 2020, with a deadline of May 31st of the same year, for the academic year of 2021-22.
