●  About this Scholarship:


  • These scholarships are offered, every year to qualified Jordanian students for higher study and research in the United States of America.  These scholarships are fully-funded by the Fulbright Commission in Jordan and are intended for two (2) years' full-time study, towards a MASTERS DEGREE only in all fields of study except for medicine, veterinary science, and dentistry.

●  Am I eligible to apply?
Applicants should meet the following eligibility criteria to apply for this scholarship program:


  • Jordanian citizens residing, living, working or studying in Jordan. Students currently studying in the U.S. or abroad are not eligible to apply.

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree from a university recognized by the Jordanian Ministry of Higher Education, with transcripts that demonstrate consistent academic performance suitable for graduate-level study in the U.S.

  • Potential applicants are expected to have a proven excellent command of English in order to carry-out high-level scholarly work.

  • Applicants should be representative and responsible citizens who can contribute to mutual understanding between the people of the United States and Jordan.

  • Applicants should demonstrate the cross-cultural sensitivity and flexibility needed to adjust successfully to life in the United States.

  • Preference will be given to interested applicants, who meet the above eligibility requirements in the fields of Fine Arts; Humanities; and Social Sciences.

●  Who is ineligible to apply for this competition?

  • Persons applying for or holding permanent residence (Green Card) in the United States are not eligible.

  • Persons who are citizens of both Jordan and the United States are also not eligible.

  • Persons who do not meet the minimum eligibility requirements.

●If an applicant already holds a Masters’ degree, is he/she eligible to apply for another one?

  • It is not recommended to apply for another Masters’ degree.  However, there may be exceptional cases whereby applying for a second Masters degree may be considered.  This is rare.  For more information, please contact the Fulbright Commission office for advice and further details.

●  Are there any obligations on my part?

  • Fulbright Students enter the United States on an Exchange Visitor (J-1) visa, under a Department of State exchange program, and are subject to the two-year home-country residency requirement, at the end of their graduate study in the U.S.

  • Once a Fulbright grantee starts their study in the US, they should maintain a satisfactory academic performance of 3.00 GPA throughout their graduate-studies.

●  What fields of study are acceptable or not accepted?

  • All fields of study are accepted, except for: Medicine, Veterinary Sciences, and Dentistry.

  • In addition, fields of study that have mandated clinical component as part of their graduate 

        degree curriculum, that is, requiring direct interaction with human subjects, are not eligible.

  • Also, Fulbright students seeking a U.S. license for practicing a therapeutic profession.

  • You can apply starting from the 3rd of February 2019 until the 30th of May 2019

●  I am eligible:  How do I apply for this scholarship?

  • The Fulbright Commission in Jordan is only accepting applications online.

  • You may access the online system once it is posted here. This is a user-friendly system through which you will be filling-out your application form for this competition.

●  What important documents should I have on-hand before starting my online application?


  • Official and certified university transcripts in English. You will be asked to upload a scan of these documents; however, hard copies should also be mailed, couriered or hand-delivered directly to the Fulbright office in Jordan.

  • Three letters of recommendation. (More details are available below)

  • GRE score report which qualifies you for graduate study in the United States.

  • Preferably an English proficiency score report should be submitted: TOEFL (iBT) or IELTS- Academic.

  • A detailed CV/Resume.

  • Portfolio: Candidates applying for a Masters of Fine Arts (MFA) degree must submit a portfolio showing his/her work in previous years.  

  • Two essays written in English by the applicant: “Personal Statement/Motivation letter” and “Study and Research Objectives”. (More details are available below)

Note: The Fulbright Jordanian Student Program seeks applicants that have developed a sense of personal integrity and are original thinkers. Copying someone else's writing, whether on the Internet, from a book or friend is considered plagiarism. Any quoted words or sentences should include a citation. Applicants that are found to have plagiarized in their application will be disqualified and barred from reapplying.


●  For MBA applicants only:


  • MBA applicants MUST have a minimum of 3-5 years of professional, work experience after the last university degree.

  • MBA applicants should submit a GMAT score report instead of the GRE.

●  More info on the standardized tests:


  • For better placement options in US universities, if nominated, applicants are advised to submit competitive score reports on the above-mentioned standardized tests.

  • Upon registration for the TOEFL (iBT) and GRE please add the following (DI) codes: (8293) for Fulbright Jordan and (5027) for AMIDEAST Washington, D.C.  This is the official way to receive your score reports.

  • Official IELTS-Academic score reports should be delivered by mail, courier or hand-delivered from the British Council - Jordan to the Fulbright Commission’s P.O. Box mailing address.

  • To register and sit for the GMAT (MBA applicants), please contact the Arab Academy for Microsoft Technologies located at 7th Circle in the Sha'ban Bldg - STS.  For information and directions please call STS at (580-2626, Extn: 2017).  We encourage MBA applicants to register for this test as soon as possible.

  • You may also register for the GMAT test through this website ( where you will find details; address and location.  Please be sure to indicate that one of your GMAT Score Reports should be sent to "AMIDEAST- DC” and the Binational Fulbright Commission in Jordan.

●  How can I submit my letters of recommendation?


  • You are advised to contact 3 referees and ask them to provide you with letters of recommendation. Your recommenders may include professors who taught you and/o supervisors at work.


  • Applicants should not view the contents of these letters of recommendation, as they are confidential documents between the referee/recommender and the Fulbright Commission and its counterparts.


There are several ways to submit your recommendation letters:


  1. You may register the names and contact information of your referees online, on your online application, and then your referees will receive instructions from the system on how to complete these forms. Or;

  2. You can send the “Letter of Reference Form” by e-mail to your referees who should fill it out, print and sign it and then either mail or courier or hand-deliver, in a sealed envelope to our P. O. Box. Or, your referee may scan (PDF or JPG format) and transmit their letter of recommendation via E-mail to the Fulbright Commission at

  3. Please Note: Submitted letters of recommendation are confidential documents and may not be viewed or retrieved by the applicant at any stage.

●  I have completed my Fulbright application online, is there anything I should do before submitting it?

  • Once the online link is posted,  you can (and should) save your work, sign out and login again to continue until such time that you have completed your application and uploaded all of the accompanying documents.

  • Once you submit your application you cannot make any changes to the data you have submitted. If you have any questions, or if you should face any technical issues, please contact the Fulbright office before submitting your application.
