- The content changes will affect both the Computer- and Paper-based versions of the exam.
- The test time will increase to 3 hours and 45 minutes.
Testing schedule
- The new format of the computer based test will begin administration in August 2011
- The first paper based test in the new format will be administered on October 22, 2011.
- Three paper-based exams will be made available, with test dates in October, November and February, worldwide. As of this writing, all paper-based testing sites will offer the exam on all three dates.
Scoring and score reports
- ETS will introduce a new scoring system where the verbal and quantitative sections will be scored in one point increments from 130 to 170.
- Official score reports will not be available until November 2011 for tests taken in August, September and October.
- Examinee email and phone numbers will be prominently displayed on the score report under the examinee’s name.
Initial Score Range Estimate
- While official scores will not be released until early November, from August 2011 until the new official 130-170 scores are calibrated and ready to report, examinees will receive an on-screen score range for the verbal and quantitative measures of the exam. The score range will be based on the 200-800 scale, and will be within 100 points, e.g. Verbal 450-550, Quantitative 510-610. This score range will be displayed immediately after exam completion.
