My Fulbright Experience in Jordan

I was fortunate to receive a Fulbright Senior Scholar Serial Grant for 1998-1999. Since 1990, I had been conducting research in Petra, Jordan investigating the decay of Roman and Nabataean architecture and this Fulbright award permitted me to continue this important research.

However, even after a decade of work in the region, Fulbright opened new doors! Fulbright House is Amman and its amazing staff facilitated everything from finding a new flat to meeting with agency officials and cabinet ministers.  Fulbright House is a comfortable meeting place, with a helpful library and web access, but most importantly it is run by an incredibly friendly, professional,
resourceful and intelligent staff!

At Fulbright House in Amman, there was always a smile and cup of coffee waiting for any Fulbrighter with a need or question.

Under the direction of Alain McNamara, my research advanced through the swift assistance and complete support of the Fulbright Staff. With an organization composed of the utmost intelligent, kind and capable staff, my living arrangements and research needs were always expedited.

Words do not aptly express the thanks that I feel towards Fulbright House in Amman. They were always there when I needed them; they anticipated my needs; they facilitated my research and open new doors throughout the region, that I would have not been able to do alone! They always exceeded my expectations: Fulbright House in Amman is the best!
